peacecamp 2009: let's talk peace in Reibers
An encounter of youth from four different cultures
Hungarian, Austrian, Jewish Israeli and Palestinian teenagers from Israel will meet in Reibers, Lower Austria from July 3rd to 13th to discuss matters of war and peace in the context of their own world and society.

Adolescence has always be a time of reflection and reevaluation; it is the period in which young people question their parents' and teachers' views, attitudes and perception of the world and try to formulate their own "Weltanschauung", based on their own perception, feelings and judgement.

On the peacecamp, they will cope with the question what the word "peace" really means to them, they will try to define the obstacles to peace in the context of their world, they will try to define what a "stranger" is and how not to be afraid of strangers; they will look out for compromise between the necessary acceptance of, and adaptation to "reality" and the striving for change, development and new forms of living, which characterizes adolescence.

In preparation of the peacecamp, they will prepare a "family album", four culture evenings and a chapter of contemporary history and discuss these issues during their reunion in Austria. Creative and outdoor workshops, psychoanalytic large groups, history sessions, culture evenings, an open day and a final show they will put on stage in Vienna on the last day will offer varied opportunities to come in touch with feelings and attitudes toward their own, and each other's culture, religion and history.

Since 2004 6 peacecamps have taken place, 5 of which in Austria and one in Israel.

This year's final show will take place in the "Dschungel"/MuseumsQuartier on July 12th.
